Question:

Deleting .mp4 files?

I have windows vista home edition. I have some .mp4 files on my computer and they don't want to delete. If I try to delete them, it just sits there saying calculating time remaining. Does anyone know why it's not deleting? I would ask microsoft, but they are charging me $60 to get a solution.

thanks in advance.

  1. Make sure that you're an administrator on the computer you're using. If you have a very large amount of files, it might take a really long time for the files to delete. Otherwise, try starting your computer in Safe Mode and deleting the files. When your computer boots, press F8 (which will give you the option to start in Safe Mode) then log in and try to delete the files. If that too fails, download a program called Eraser and erase the files. If they're locked, Eraser will give you an option to Erase Upon Restart, which should delete the files before Windows has a chance to lock them.

  2. Try deleting the files in Safe mode. If that fails, use this tool. http://www.download.com/Unlocker/3000-22...

It should be able to unlock for deletion the file in use.
