Delhi Daredevils beat Kings XI Punjab by 29 runs in IPL-4: Match Recap and Analysis
The Delhi Daredevils are back on track as they scored the highest total of the tournament in this season by accumulating 231 runs in twenty overs against an inform Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780, on 23 April, 2011.
After winning the toss, the Kings XI Punjab skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Adam-Gilchrist-c918, opted to field, a decision which he might be regretting when he saw Virender Sehawag’s team hit his bowlers all over the park in the early overs.

An over later, the new batsman in Yogesh Nagar was caught at long-off on a delivery bowled by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abhishek-Nayar-c902. Nagar scored 11 runs off nine deliveries before walking back to the pavilion.
However, the prized wicket fell in the 16th over when http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Praveen-Kumar-c82600 succeeded dismissing danger man Warner, Ryan Harris caught Warner in the deep, just as the ball was set to clear the rope.
Warner also piled up 77 runs off 48 deliveries. His innings included seven boundaries and six fours.
In the later stage of the innings http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Venugopal-Rao-c2752 clung on, remaining unbeaten after scoring 28 runs off 15 deliveries.

Coming out to pursue the humungous total, Punjab knew that they had a tough target ahead of them and needed to pounce on the DD bowlers right from the word go.
With Gilchrist coming as an opener, Punjab fans knew their side had a fighting chance for as long as Gilly was on the crease.
In the fourth over Punjab suffered their first loss as opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601. Valthaty while trying to smack the bowler ended up giving a top edge to a short delivery which landed straight in the hands of Yogesh Nagar.
Gilchrist who was doing well well, lost his middle stump on a superb delivery by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Varun-Aaron-c2744. The left-handed opener scored 42 runs off 33 deliveries.
An over later http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dinesh-c54134 Karthik lost his wicket after scoring just six runs. With the wickets falling at regular interval, it was now almost over for Punjab.
Shaun Marsh was the lone warrior for Punjab as he scored 95 runs off 46 deliveries. His innings included nine fours and six sixes. He was removed by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morne-Morkel-c77722.
In the end Kings XI Punjab could only manage to score 202 runs, 29 runs short of the total.
Warner was awarded the Man of the Match title for his astounding performance with the bat.
