Delhi Daredevils still depending on the fast bowlers – Cricket News Update
Delhi Daredevils’ mentor, T.A Sekar, has shown full confidence on his fast bowlers and made it clear that there will not be any massive changes in the playing XI for the second eliminator of the play-offs of the fifth edition of the Indian Premier
League (IPL).
Chennai Super Kings will be up against Delhi today in a crunch game as the winner will face Kolkata Knight Riders in the final of the tournament.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Delhi-c780 have been one of the strongest units of the current season and apart from a great batting line-up, the Daredevils have depended on their fast bowlers for their success.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/M-Morkel-c73528 is currently the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 25 wickets in 16 matches. Other quick bowlers, Umesh Yadav, Varun Aaron and Irfan Pathan have also bowled out of their skin this year.
The plan did not work in the first play-off fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders as all the fast bowlers, apart from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Irfan-Pathan-c1601, conceded a lot of runs. A number of analysts criticized the team selection of Delhi and felt that they should have played
an extra spinner, in the shape of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahbaz-Nadeem-c89339.
However, Sekar has not lost confidence on his rookies and is optimistic that his bowling-attack will fire in the all-important match against the Super Kings.
Sekar expressed, "Our strength has been fast bowling. We have come to this stage mainly because of our bowlers' performance with support from our batsmen in posting needed runs. In Delhi, we got the [Chennai] Super Kings for 110 [for eight] in 20 overs.
It happens in Twenty20 cricket that fast bowlers get hit sometimes."
Delhi’s mentor is of the opinion that every cricketer can go through a bad match but things can change very quickly, especially in the shortest format of the game.
“Unfortunately, some of the deliveries of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umesh-Yadav-c94625 were sent for boundaries. I do not think that these are real areas of concern for us because even spinners can be hit quite freely also. We have just seen the wicket. We will have
a core committee meeting and decide," he added.
