I was asked why the age on the voter list is messed up. All you have to do is google errors India Voter ID and you can see why official government docs are all screwed up. The voting list is compiled by some area school head. and he guesses the persons age half the time. It is from the village so he knows everyone, the age is usually off by 1-2 yrs. All the real official documents are right, such as school leaving papers, passport and Birth Certificate.

The fraudulent document vendors in New Delhi do a brisk business - anything you could possibly ask for is available if the price is right.  When personal data does not match on various official documents, the situation bears greater scrutiny.  Each day, Consular Section waste bins are filled with fake documents presented by people desperate to get to the US using whatever means available.

Lots of questions are being asked to determine the true identity of the applicant to make sure that a visa will only be granted to a real people not one who possessed fraudulent documents such as the counterfeit voter's identification card.
