I have ordered a Plasma TV from a well known internet site and they have delivered my parcel and paperwork to another customer, and I have received their parcel and paperwork. I have contacted the company and three weeks has now passed and they say that the other customer is claimeing to have received the right item. Obviously he would say this as he has a £1200 TV and I have a £200 microwave.

Does anyone know where I stand with this?

  1. Tell the company to check the signature on the delivery note for the t v They will see that it isnt yours

  2. One, report it to the police. The other customer is commiting theft by deception. Get a crime number and go back to the company you bought the TV from and tell them what you have done. That should kick them into action.

Two. Did you pay for it by credit card? If so get on to your credit card company and get them to reverse the transaction. They can do this, even after the event.

Three. You may well be insured by your credit card company for this type of loss.

Four. Get onto the transport company. They will have a copy of the signed delivery note for your TV (it will probably be electronic). The Police will probably want this for evidence.

  3. Take the paperwork that you received down to your local terminal of the company that delivered the package. Let them see that you have the other person's package and paperwork. Did you happen to have your tv insured for the full amount of it's worth?

  4. You should not have signed for it as it was obviously not what you ordered.

Send it back, keep copies of your order and delivery note. Return with a note saying you did not receive the correct order, can they please resend the correct item as they not fulfilled their contract under the sale of goods act.

Telephone the Citizens Advice Bureu (UK) and ask for further guidance.

  5. notify your credit card company and they will help you correct the situation

(you did pay by cc didn't you?)
