Delivering newspaprs in UK.?

Question

a common means of delivering morning newspapers is by motor car. Every morning i see papers delivered with the car engine left running outside each house. Question is ....How does the newsagent make a profit ?????

Maybe it isn't the Newsagent delivering them, My Dad does a paper round on his bicycle in the week but has to do it in a car at the weekends as the Weekend Suppliments weigh down the bag to much

Well its not the Newsagent lossing money its the deliverae.

The Newsagent pays them a fixed weekly/monthly pay and just asks the delivery person to deliver the papers, in any way possible or more sutible to them.

So the newsagent isn't paying for the fuel.....

I don't think that this is very common.  

I think most newspapers are delivered by kids on bikes - who aren't paid very much.

I suppose it uses less fuel than constantly switching engine on and off.

Watch him!...One day someome is going to jump in his car and drive away while he's out of it......lol
