Question:

Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently....?

Okay I use Shaw and went to send an e-mail to a Gmail account and got the following message "Delivery to the following recipient failed permanently". I looked up possible results and it said the e-mail account was likely deleted.

So today I give it another shot and the e-mail went through this time with not error message.

Can someone explain to me what happened?

  1. The gmail delivery server for that particular email was probably down for a period of time which means that the multiple attempts to deliver that email by your server failed (your server will try a few times before sending you that error message).

    As long as it is working now I wouldn't worry too much about it.
