  1. Unfortunately, I can't give you specific answers on whether or not they are compatible. For that information go to Dell's support section and use the service tags to determine what systems you specifically have. The service tags on a Dell are usually located on a sticker on the side or back of the PC case.   If I were to guess, I would say they are compatible, as both the 3000 and the 2400 support up to PC-3200 memory.

But, I can tell you what the PC 2700 means.   Ram comes in many different configurations and speeds.  PC 2700 means the Ram you are looking at is DDR-1 (or just DDR) and is 333Mhz. The other numbers are probably specific to dell and are not really important for finding compatible memory.  Both the Dell 2400 and 3000 only have 2 slots for memory, so you can at best only fit 2GB of ram in either system.

If the memory in the 3000 is faster than the memory from the 2400 you will run into problems, so only install the other memory if they are both rated PC-2700.

Despite what Dell would like you to think, you DO NOT have to buy memory only from Dell, and you can get a much lower price from a third party for PC-2700 than you would get from Dell.
