Question:

Dell Dimension 3000 Ram Upgrade.?

I wanted to buy a 2gb upgrade for my Dell Dimension 3000.

I used to crucial.com scan and was told that my PC is using 184 pin DIMM RAM. I want to upgrade my system to 2gb (MAX), but I'm not entirely sure if this will work:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2GB-DDR333-PC2700-DDR-333-PC-2700-2100-2-X-1GB-RAM-NEW_W0QQitemZ310079056907QQihZ021QQcategoryZ44936QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

My only problem is that, on the page, it says this:

"System Requirements :

1. Your system / Board must be able to use 1GB DDR modules

2. Not an Intel based nor ASUS board nor nVidia Chipset"

I'm not sure what this means, so I am asking for help.

Thanks for any help

  1. if you have enough i think it will work...cause i have a dimension and i have 2 slots i upgraded it to 1gb ram each slot which is 2gb ram.... and most likely you have 512mb ram...so if you put the 2gb ram in the second slot you will have 2.5gb of ram...which is a lot...if you don't have enough slots just remove the 512mb ram and put in the 2gb ram...and you will have 2b ram.....its really simple on how to remove and install ram....if you don't know how ask me ... but i'm not sure if it will work... oh and also what video card do you have? oh my mistake since you have max 2gb ram remove the 512ram and install the 2 1gb ram..(1gb ram in 1 slot and the other 1 in the other slot)

  2. Unfortunately the maximum memory for this computer is 1GB. This is ok since it is older and you will be happy with the results of it. Unless you intend to high end game, a newer computer is recommended. I'm sure 1gb will do just fine for now. The type to get is (2) 512MB modules ,DDR PC3200 ,333MHz, Unregistered, NON-ECC, unbuffered.     http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/dell-di...
