Dell Dimension 3000 Ram ?

I have a dimension 3000 and a dimension 2400 and they look basically the same so if i took the ram out of the 2400 would it work in the 3000 if possible would i need to run some kind of program or something to do that please help

  1. The two machines do use similar RAM (DDR).

    The 3000 requires 333 MHz (PC2700) or 400 MHz (PC3200) RAM

    Whereas the 2400 can use 266 MHz (PC2100) or 333 MHz (PC2700) or 400 MHz (PC3200) RAM

    If the RAM from the 2400 is labelled 266 or PC2100, you canNOT use it in the 3000.

    You do not need to change any settings or programs, it should automatically recognize the RAM if it is compatible.
