Dell Inspiron 1501 black screen

Question

My dell inspiron1501 has a black screen, I turn it on and the dell logo appears, then aerror message, that says it was not shut down properly, I choose tostart it at safe mode, as i have read before, but then a bunch ofnumbers and letters appears, and it goes back to a black screen. I've tried everything from, Blue FN and F11, F2, F8 on start up.. etc.I even tested my hard drive and it actually passed, but still a black screen, no desk top..no log in, nothing....Please help..
