Question:

Dell Inspiron 6000 RAM question?

I currently have two 512MB sticks of RAM in my Dell Inspiron 6000.

I picked up two more 512MB sticks, thinking I could add them to gice me a total of 2GB RAM ... except as far as I can tell, there is only room for two, period.

It seems as if I cannot install two more, that there are only two slots

total.

Is this right?

Or am I missing something?

  1. Yes thats right, some systems will only allow two slots for RAM. And, you need to get to of the same amount of mem sticks to do an upgrade. For example, you would need two memory sticks of 1 gig each to upgrade.

Go to Dell Support to verify; http://support.dell.com/?dgc=DB&cid=1110...

  2. You are right, for Insp 6000

    Maximum Memory: 2048

    Number Of Slots: 2

    Check out the link below.....

In case you had purchased the memory you can very well return the memory and get 2 x 1 GB memory chips.

    Hope this helps you
