I turned on my Dell Laptop, used it, it was working perfectly fine, then I went to shut it down, whilst it was shutting down i wasn't sure when it was appropriate to shut the laptop, so while it was in the process of shutting down i closed it. the next time i opened it (after about 5-15 minutes) it was just a blue screen with the mouse. the mouse moves, so it is not frozen, i have tried the power button, i plugged it in at the powerpoint.

what else can i do to get out of this blue screen ???

please help

  1. remove the battery it can also be that your ram broke

  2. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes . From http://fixit.in/bluescreenofdeath.html . You can also run a free registry scan using utilities from http://re7.info

  3. Blue screen of death, your hard-drive died and everything with it.

Time to get a new computer

  4. That doesn't sound like blue screen of death..  take the battery off or hold the powerbutton until it switches off

  5. Two of the most common reasons for BSoDs are:

Problems that occur with incompatible versions of DLLs. Windows loads these DLLs into memory when they are needed by application programs; if versions are changed, the next time an application loads the DLL it may be different from what the application expects. These incompatibilities increase over time as more new software is installed, and is one of the main reasons why a freshly-installed copy of Windows is more stable than an "old" one.

Faulty or poorly written device drivers, hardware incompatibilities, or damaged hardware may also cause a BSoD.

    Solution:

Since the system is unable to boot from the hard drive in this situation, correction of the problem often requires booting from the Microsoft Windows CD. After booting to the CD, it may be possible to correct the problem by performing a repair install or by using the Recovery Console (with CHKDSK).

  6. That is the Blue Screen of Death, ignore the silly comments about dead hardware, as that is NOT true.

This can be cause by a faulty shutdown procedure, or a system process that was terminated (stopped not actually deleted) whilst shutting down.

To get out of this, you will need to hold down your power button to turn the laptop off. After, turn it back on and if the problem persists, you'll need to write down the error code it gives.

It should be a little bit like this:

    examplefile.dll (Error: X01a2b34c567, 8d9f10hijk)

  7. Pull the power cord and pull the battery, reboot!

  8. P L E A S E    DO NOT RE-FORMATT YOUR HARDRIVE!!!

    PLEASE READ FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RUN YOUR WINDOWS REPAIR CONSOLE FROM YOUR WINDOWS CD AND RUN THE COMMAND: chkdsk

Either U had a power outage or u had an improper shutdown an some of yur sectors got slightly damaged...What u can do is (according to what windows  or OS u are running) get the Installation cd---> load it in the CD rom tray...re-boot your PC and before it starts up hit f12 to go to boot mode...--->then select boot from CD/DVD drive.....then U should see the Windows CD booting up......When it does....

At the "Welcome to Setup" screen, press F10 or press "R" to repair.

it will then open up the command prompt screen---> then type in chkdsk as a command and it should automatically repair the bad sectors without U having to loose any info.......If u have Windows XP home/pro and cant find a CD let me know.....
