Question:

Dell Laptop won't turn on/charge?

I have a 2003 Dell Latitude D600 laptop. Last Friday (15th) I plugged my computer in to charge, turned it on, and just as it was almost done loading completely, the computer just shut off for no reason known to mankind. The computer will not turn on at all since that Friday. The light on the laptop that usually is green when it is charging, does not turn on when plugged in.

It is NOT the charger (we tried 3 different ones and 1 was brand new out of the box, in the store) and it is NOT the battery (we tried one brand new out of the box, in the store).

Has anyone else had similar problems with this and have suggestions?

  1. When mine began doing this I was told by the Geek Squad that it was the motherboard, and to fix it would likely cost more than replacing it.

  2. sounds like the jack that is in the laptop (the plug in part where your power supply go's into) if you know of anyone that is handy with a soldering iron it might be fixable. but don't rush it .laptops have a bunch of screws and parts. the link below shows the the dell (7th pic down)  good luck

  3. Get a mac. :)

  4. I know the problem. It's a Dell.

  5. You probably have a bad power supply. Take it to a local computer service company!
