Question:

Dell Latitude 500 - Battery vs Power Supply...

Hello,
I bought my Dell Latitude 500 approx. four years ago and have only used it less than 20 times; I use a dual-drive desktop. Shortly after I received it I had problems charging the battery and, via telephone tech support, Dell support determined that it was a defective battery and it was replaced.

A couple years passed before I used the laptop again and when I did I had the same power problem. This was right around the time that there was the massive battery recall... I checked and my battery was not one of the ones recalled.

My laptop seemed to be "dogging" in the power sense. I always had to use it with the power cord attached and the orange battery icon was always on. Last week I installed a new battery and my laptop stayed on for
approximately 10 minutes then it went dead. Even when I plugged the power cord in there is no power going to the laptop.

Could it be my AC adapter? And if so, is it a 65 or 90 watt? Even on Dell's site it shows that both are compatible, which makes no sense. The bottom of the laptop says it can use with either adapter model PA-10 or PA-12.

Thanks very much for any insights you might have.
