Dell computer screen flickers on

Question

dell computer screen flickers on and off intermittently,always when first going on to internet explorer and also in the middle of games or doing a task eg writing a document, even though the computer has been in use for a while. Recently had a lot of problems with vista resolved but this problem has been since these were resolved.
