Dell inspiron 6400 keyboard is not working

I've dell inspiron 6400 laptop. My laptop keyboard is not working but mouse/touchpad is working. Am able to use the key board buttons with online keyboard program. This problem came after reinstallation of OS. Please suggest me how to resolve this issue. Am unable to diognaise also. How to proceed for diognosis by presing F12?
