I updated the BIOS(downloaded from dell site). But the problem is not solved! when I am in win XP the speedfan program shows CPU temperature as 55 C and Nvidia video card as 85 C! and when I watch movies the system hangs and I have to turn it off manually! when I am in ubuntu even when I do not do anything and I just sit in front of the laptop I see temperature rising to 70 C and the system again hangs and I can not do anything! Help me please!!

BTW I have a Latitude D630.

  1. Simply raising your laptop off of any flat surface will allow fresh, cool air to come in from the intake on the bottom of the laptop. This will solve many of the heat issues you might be having.

Also, let it be known that you should NEVER have your laptop on any type of soft surface, such as a pillow, blanket, thick carpet, etc; Doing so will not allow ANY cool air to enter the fan intake, and could cause more system hang ups and permanent component damage. Keep it on a flat, hard surface at all times.

If that doesn't help, you may want to consider purchasing a notebook cooler. Here are some links (provided by newegg.com) to some quality notebook coolers.

  2. get a can of air and blow the air vents......most likely are full of dust and the venting in the machine's case is plugged.

  3. Buy a laptop cooler attach to the bottom of your laptop it will reduce some heat.

All laptop are made to fry egg so get used to it =)

  4. laptops run hot, when running 3d shooter games, or videos. make sure u have a laptop cooler, and in a cool room, also make sure there is enough

  5. i had this same problem.but then bought a cooler for the laptop this solved the problem.

  6. um i dont know celcius but i know thats high you could try getting an external fan plug in i guess

  7. My HP does the same thing.  I thought about a cooler but used a pair of 1 inch thick sticks, 2 inches wide and a foot long.  One under each side.  Lots of air passage and problem solved
