Dell laptop went dead and will not start?

  1. If your battery goes down, u need to plug the battery charger in your laptop.  Plug the 3 prong plug in first! , in the wall, then use the other end to plug it in the back of your laptop, should be on the left side or right, depending on your model.

  2. CHeck the power brick for a green light indicating it is getting power.  

    If there is no green light, the brick is bad.  

    If there is a green light then the brick is good.  Check the power connection on the laptop.  Is it loose? does it wiggle?  If so, the power connection broke and you should call Dell support.  If it is out of warrany, it could be costly but see if you can find a Dell dock.  Dock the laptop and see if it boots.  If it does but doesn't without it... there's a power connection problem for sure and you need to send it in for service.

    On the battery, there is a button to push and hold that will show you how much battery you have left.  If there is no battery left, that could be your problem as well.   Try to find someone with the same battery and test their's in your laptop or call dell. you may have to purchase another batter.
