apparently something was spilled on my dell inspiron 1525 keyboard. a couple of the keys were not working well. i purchased a product from radio shack called, ''control/contact cleaner and lubricant which the sales person assured me would solve the problem. it didnt. it actually made it much worse. now i have about 6 nonfunctioning keys including the spacebar. i had to purchase a usb keyboard to use. what caused the keys to stop working and more importantly, can they be fixed or do i need a new keyboard?

I spilled water on my keyboard one day: cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol and the keyboard worked fine. The next day I spilled a sugared soft drink on it, cleaning it with water followed with alcohol to remove the water. I allowed it to dry completely before replacing it. Some key are now sensitive (they must be struck carefully in order to work) and often have to strike the ESC key repeatedly to gt drop-own menus to stop rapidly dropping down. I assume that I will need to replace the keyboard. An easy enough job, but I's prefer to avoid it.
