Is there any chanse that that's going to change soon, i mean the thing i also like is AMD has better quad core perforamce again the intel quad core

BE_Rep_Marco_P

I'm not sure about that Mattie. There may be a chance that we offer Phenom in the future but there's no specific date yet.

  1. Well, I would say no.  First of all, a representative does not have all the information.  I believe Dell is currently all Intel based.  From a logistical point of view, switching to or even incorporating AMD processors into their lineup doesn't make much sense.  It complicates the process of buying and building computers and Dell has prided itself on making computer selection an easy and understandable process.

Also, I would have to argue that AMD's quad-core is actually slower than Intel quad core.  On paper, if you look at sheer numbers the Phenom looks like it should be good but in practice Intel quad cores outperform it.  Right now, Phenoms are considered budget processors in comparison.  You can look to www.tomshardware.com for more in-depth processor comparisons.  In particular, http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-...  Most benchmarks show the slowest Intel quad-core processor (the Q6600) outperforming all Phenoms.

  2. Over all Intel is a better CPU, quad and dual cores. Check the benchmarks.
