Dell tower won't power on?

one night the tower was working and then the next day the tower will not power on it literally does nothing. the montior comes on along with the speakers but the tower nothing happens at all. please help

  1. Probably the power supply. Usually that's not too expensive to replace, between $30 and $60, depending upon the model.  There's a small chance that the motherboard was affected but usually not (unless there was a power suge or lightning strike)

    Newer Dells use standard ATX power supplies, older models had used a non-standard mounting arrangement for the screws.  Take it to a computer shop, this is a very common and easy thing to fix, as long as your motherboard wasn't affected.


  2. Possibly the power supply is out. You can have that checked for a very small fee at a computer repair place. If you recently had a power surge then my money is on the power supply being ruined and unfortunately when that happens, it sometimes takes the mobo with it. Then it's too costly to fix and it's cheaper to buy another CPU.

  3. It could be a number of things. I would start out by checking the power supply. Next would be the motherboard. Depending on the type of computer you have it may be cheaper to buy another one rather than get it repaired.
