Deloitte Ladies Open: Diana Luna looks to atone for German Open lapses
Italian Diana Luna, who could not defend her title at last week’s Unicredit Ladies German Open, has vowed to do her best at the Deloitte Ladies Open, scheduled to start from June 1-3, at the prestigious Golfclub Broekpolder Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The presence of the Luna in the field of the Deloitte Ladies Open is likely to make the event even tougher and livelier, as she knows the course well.
The Italian star exhibited a stellar performance in the last edition of the tournament, as she finished tied for 5th, along with Tara Davies from Wales and Anne-Lise Caudal from France. She posted a 215, something reflecting her strength on the course.
This year’s Deloitte Ladies Open may offer more challenges than the previous edition, as most of the competent LET (Ladies European Tour) stars are going to take part in it.
The published field of the tournament is not featuring the defending champion, Melissa Reid, however, there are plenty of battle-hardened players notorious for troubling their rivals.
Some of the key contenders include Christel Boeljon, Jade Schaeffer, Helen Alfredsson, Trish Johnson of England, Lee-Anne Pace, Becky Brewerton, Gwladys Nocera, Karen Lunn from Australia, Frances Bondad, who made an ace in the last year’s event, Felicity
Johnson and Florentyna Parker.
Analysts said that Luna may have made a solid plan for the event; the field is definitely going to pose a serious challenge to her. In the Unicredit Ladies German Open, she could live up to her fans’ expectations, but this time she seems more determined.
Another tough contender who may trouble Luna is Christel Boeljon. Boeljon belongs to the Netherlands, and she is likely to capitalize on the home crowd advantage.
Sharing her thought while talking to the media about the tournament, the Dutch star said that she is firm to take advantage of her home course. She added that she is aware of the challenge she may face from rivals, but her fans are definitely going to give
her much-needed support on the course.
The Deloitte Ladies Open is offering a big prize this year, plus a BMW 6 Series Coupe for a player who shoots an ace on the 16th hole. The purse is a whopping €250,000.
