My daughter's oldsmobile died while driving down road and has not started since. 3.8 engine 1987. Any ideas. We have gas, no fire. Plugs and wire checked. Some people say Coil pack, cam sensor, crank sensor and ignition sensor....any ideas where to start????

  1. When you say has gas, that leaves the question,DO YOU HAVE GAS PRESSURE?  Atank full of gas is no good. YOU have to get this fuel, under pressure, to the injectors.check the fuel and then give more info.  By the way I tend to find a lot of 3800 with crank position sensors bad.

                EDIT:

CARS DO NOT HAVE DISTRIBUTORS ANYMORE

                                "BRILLIANT"!!!!

  2. Take your car to autozone and have them check the computer, or buy an OBDII computer checker. Could be the distributor, check the power to the distributor.

  3. i have a 1988 oldsmobile delta 88 and mine did that awhile back and i cranked and cranked, no fire, plenty of gas and it turned out to be the module. i just replaced both the module and coil pack, because i figured if the module went, then it probably weakened the coil pack. i would go with the module first if i were you. it did that both times with me and both times it was the module. auto zone can check the module for you for free.
