Newcastle United may be without striker Demba Ba for their upcoming Premier League clash against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 this weekend.
The Magpies recorded a win against West Brom at home last week, but once again failed to put in a convincing performance.
Senegalese striker duo http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Demba-Ba-c10812 and Papiss Demba Cisse had given the hosts the win as West Brom suffered their third defeat of the season, despite starting off in such fine fashion.
Demba Ba had given Newcastle the lead before West Brom equalized. It was Papiss Demba Cisse who clinched the win in the dying minutes of the game, with luck playing a major part in the goal.
Sammy Ameobi had taken the initial shot, which deflected off the forward and went into the back of the net past the helpless http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ben-Foster-c7445.
However, Newcastle may be without Ba for this weekend’s trip to Liverpool. The striker was taken off in the 2-1 win against West Brom with a suspected calf injury.
Ba is currently the club’s top scorer, and the Toon faithful will be waiting anxiously on news regarding the player’s condition. Pardew revealed that the striker is yet to face a late fitness test, and may still feature for the clash at Merseyside.
Speaking to the press, Pardew said that he is confident about his side’s strike firepower should Ba miss out on the trip to Anfield. He said:
“I think he’s 50-50 at best. We’ve got Papiss back on the goal trail and Shola and Sammy so we’re happy with that. It is very important to have that. Papiss is fit and well and we are looking forward to seeing him this weekend.”
In other news, Pardew has reassured Frenchman http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sylvain-Marveaux-c34432 about his role in his long term plans. The 26-year old has only started three games for the Magpies this season, and has not featured for them in over a month.
The player also suffered an injury a few weeks back, but Pardew maintains that the Frenchman remains a major part of his plans. He said:
"Sylvain is not out of the equation. At any time he could be called upon. I have no fears or bones about putting him in.”
"He is trying to earn his place. Sammy Ameobi and Ferguson have done well and they are both in his position. Gabby has also been doing well."
