The Belgian midfielder is close to completing a move to White Hart Lane, after recently undergoing a medical.
By far one of the most protracted summer transfer sagas in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749, it seems that Moussa Dembele will finally get his chance at a bigger club, with Fulham allowing the crafty playmaker to sign for London rivals Tottenham.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar man was heavily linked with a multi-million pound switch to Real Madrid, where Jose Mourinho was reportedly keen to sign him.
However, Los Blancos continued their pursuit of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 and finally got their hands on the Croatian after months of talks with Spurs. Ironically, the man who derailed his proposed departure to Madrid is the very same player he has been brought in to
replace by Andre Villas-Boas.
Modric was amongst the Premier League’s best players but was cruelly devoid of making his mark on the European stage, after Tottenham failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League last year.
Considering his talents, the Croat engineered a much-hyped about transfer to the Bernabeu, paving the way for Dembele’s arrival at his former stomping ground.
Fulham were initially not keen on letting one of their prized assets leave the club, but it seems that the player’s desires has persuaded them into thinking otherwise.
The Cottagers did not name the Belgian International in their squad for the League Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday and following the game revealed that Dembele was on the verge of completing his swoop to the other side of the city.
"Martin confirmed post match that the club has accepted a bid for Moussa Dembele from Tottenham Hotspur, the player is currently undergoing a medical," a statement on the club's website read.
As exhibited in the against Manchester United, the 25-year-old is comfortable in possession and also has some quality skills up his sleeve, making him a good candidate to replace Modric.
Villas-Boas’ side are looking to bring Champions League football to the helm once more and the signing of Dembele will go a long way in helping that cause, but in the meantime the Lilywhites turn their attention to the upcoming Premier League game against
Norwich City.
