Tottenham Hotspur have officially confirmed the signing of Belgian midfielder Moussa Dembele from Fulham and the player has given his first interview, expressing his delight with the switch.
The North London outfit are expected to enter a transfer frenzy, considering the reports linking most of Tottenham’s players with moves away from the club.
It seems that manager Andre Villas-Boas is keen on revamping the whole squad after Spurs failed to earn three points last weekend at home against West Brom.
The 25-year old completed his transfer to Tottenham yesterday in a surprise £15 million move. The Belgian put pen to paper and signed a five year deal with the club after completing his medical at Tottenham’s training facilities.
The move came after the official confirmation of the departure of midfield star http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857 to Real Madrid. It seems like Tottenham have already started preparing for life without their most important player and have dived back into the transfer market.
Dembele’s move however casts doubts over the future of Dutchman Rafael Van Der Vaart, who has been linked with a move back to his former club Hamburg.
Villas-Boas had stated last week that he intended on holding on to the Dutchman, but with today’s football scenario, you cannot take anyone’s word seriously. The Belgian’s arrival will surely restrict Van Der Vaart to the bench, and everyone knows the player
will not be happy with this.
One player who is happy and delighted is Moussa Dembele. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“I’m happy to join Spurs. It’s a fantastic club. "You can see over the last few years that Spurs have played well. Everybody knows it's a good team and a good club and that's why I wanted to come here.”
"The club have plans to do lots of good things and that's why I want to be a part of it."
The player is more excited by the prospect of playing alongside compatriot and friend http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jan-Vertonghen-c17814.
"I know Jan from when I was 10 years old. We played together then," Dembele added. "I know him well. He's a great guy and he's said a lot of good things about this club.”
