Tottenham Hotspur player Moussa Dembele has dismissed comparisons between him and former Spurs player http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857, insisting that he’s a totally different player to the Croatian.
The 25-year old arrived at White Hart Lane in the final days of the summer transfer window, and was seen as a replacement for Modric, who departed for Real Madrid in the summer. Dembele is understood to be a direct replacement for the Croatian, considering
his central midfield expertise.
Dembele signed for Spurs in a £15 million move from Fulham in a move that surprised many. However, Tottenham’s need for a midfielder was immense when Modric left, as they were without a central player who could pull strings, orchestrate attacks and carry
the ball forward, linking up attack and defence.
Spurs were initially in the market for Porto’s Joao Moutinho, but a deal collapsed in the final minutes of deadline day, and they went for the Belgian instead.
The player however insists that he is a completely player than Modric. The Belgian player admitted his admiration for Modric, but feels that they both have very different playing styles and approach to the game. Speaking to local English press, he said:
“Before I came to Tottenham, I was a big fan of Luka Modric. For me, he was one of the best in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but I am a totally different player. He had different qualities and I have different qualities as well so I don’t have to do exactly what he did, I do
my own game.”
Tottenham moved back to 4th spot on the league table following the 1-0 win over Swansea City on the weekend. Dembele is keen to help the team cement their place in the top 4 and secure Champions League football for next season. The player added:
“I want to win that game and then the next and we will see where we are but of course you want to be at the top of the table. We want to be there for the Champions League. That’s very important for us, because we feel we have the quality to do this. But
every game is a battle.”
