Martin Demichelis was at hand to talk about the much-hyped Madrid-Munich semi-final fixtures, which see the two European titans renewing hostilities.
The Argentinean defender stressed that the Spanish powerhouses in the semi-finals have no comparisons within the rest of the footballing world.
Nevertheless, he opined that only Bayern Munich can stand a chance against La Liga outfits. Demichelis claimed that the Bavarian giants have the squad to match the Spaniards pound for pound, while questioning the administration of the club would be a folly.
"I agree that the Madrid and Barcelona are a cut above the rest," Demichelis said while talking to Spanish sports daily, MARCA. "But Bayern are in the top three both in terms of football and as an institution.”
"It's like a family, even though it is a monstrously big club."
When quizzed about who he would like to progress to the Allianz Arena hosted final, Demichelis commented that after representing Bayern Munich for 7 seasons, it would be hypocritical to sing another club’s anthems.
"I will not be hypocritical, it is normal for me to want them to win," he told MARCA. "I'm not cheering for Real!”
"I'm a Bayern man and I know that Bayern have a great desire to get through because the final is at the Allianz and also because we lost against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 at the Bernabeu [in the 2010 final].”
The coming week watches Real Madrid take on Bayern in the two legged affair, with a La Liga trip to the Camp Nou sandwiched in between their European responsibilities.
