  1. Not matter in what sense, you can never equate dictatorship with democracy - it's an oxymoron.  :-)

In simplest terms we equate dictatorship with totalitarian rule, to simplify it to extreme - one person calling all the shots.

Democracy in simplest language, we equate to - a government for the people by the people. In other words freely elected government.

By definition you can not associate 'collective' with democracy b/c it implies 'one unit' . . . . . .  however democracy is a way for each person to express his/her opinions freely. Take religion for example, for it to be collective dictatorship each individual must adhere to a single policy & hence in turn advocate it's implementation, but that's not the case i.e. abortion. However in a dictatorship by default a policy only sanctioned by the totalitarian authority will be implemented, regardless of opinions or views of the society.

  2. And a Democratic Republic is then what? Collectivised nations that use "Democratic" in their names, or that pretend to practice it, are of course not fair democracies, with only one candidate.

But the democratic republic of the United States of America was founded on individual sovereignty and given manifestation in "common sovereignty," i.e., "the consent of the governed."

The "common sovereignty" [Locke] is nothing like collectivisation.

  3. Democracy as a "Collective Dictatorship" is an oxymoron and a non sequitur.

Dictator= Autocract -"self-ruler," or to "rule by one's self."

    Democracy -"rule by common people."

  4. Not at all.

How does dictatorship fit into the equation?  If by "dictatorship" you mean that decisions made by the majority dont match your personal choices, as you were the minority in a vote... then yes, decisions are made that dont reflect EVERYONES opinion.  But that is the consequence of living in a democracy.  No one has the right to complain about it... becoming your own dictator in a far-off land is the only way to satisfy some people.

The term "collective dictatorship", to me, sounds like the mere existence of differing opinion makes it not a democracy any more.  I dont think thats the case.  If everyone in society had a homogenized opinion about everything.... then there would be no need to cast a vote.  Democracy doesnt exist and a collective-mind exists in that situation, no one will be disappointed with the decisions made but no one has a different opinion either.  THAT is far from democratic.

  5. Democracy is two wolves & a sheep deciding what's for lunch.

  6. How about commonwealth?
