Democratic National Convention has "Free speech zones?" Your feelings on this matter? 10PTS!?

I think this is absurd! Now because someone has a different opinion, they are led to a free speech zone? Here's the thing:

I completely understand that officials are concerned that the "protesters" may get out of hand and that they are worried about safety...that part I get. But since when did our 1st amendment have restrictions and technicalities attached to it? Everyone has a right to free speech.

I say let them protest, but if things get out of control then they will be removed. It IS their right.

What are your thoughts?

Haven't you heard? Nothing is free. Freedom isn't free, free trade isn't free, people aren't free.

Freedom is an illusion.

It's a word that sounds good in speeches, but in reality, it's a load of c**p.

Well I'm not a big DNC fan but it is a win win situation for everyone. The Protesters get to exercise their right to protest and the folks going to the convention get to exercise their right to engage in political speech.  There is nothing in the language of the 1st amendment that can even be remotely interpreted as giving protesters rights to be disruptive. The people who don't what to see or hear these protesters have an equal if not greater right to conduct their business in peace and quiet. Remember the protesters are not being denied their right to protest in any way shape or form, while they have a right to speak that have NO right to force others to listen to them.

I think some of those free speech zones will be in the bathrooms and outside the convention center in a parking lot somewhere. Protesters will be treated harshly. Wait and see.

Free speech zones exist for only for one reason – to keep the truth, or at least any dissenting voice, from ever being heard.
