fact

This is because large numbers of Clinton backers — 30 percent in a recent ABC/Washington Post poll — are still not backing Obama over McCain

spin

We understand that some in the news media are more interested in reporting the rumor of controversy than the fact of unity. The fact is that our teams are working closely to ensure a successful convention and will continue to do so. Senator and President Clinton fully support the Obama/Biden ticket and look forward to addressing the convention and the nation on the urgency of victory this Fall. Anyone saying anything else doesn't know what they're talking about. Period."

fact

because among many grievances he has about the campaign Obama waged against his wife is a belief that the candidate poor-mouthed the political and policy successes of his two terms.

fact

A prominent Obama backer said some of Clinton’s lieutentants negotiating with the Obama team are “bitter enders” who presume that, rather than the Clintons reconciling themselves to Obama’s victory, it is up to Obama to accommodate them.

spin

The peevishness on both sides and the volume of behind-the-scenes catcalls are noteworthy because both the Clinton and Obama teams had resolved in pre-convention talks that it was overwhelmingly in the interests of both sides to get along.

one can only wonder, given the pre nomination anti obama rhetoric offered by biden, whether demcrats will percieve all this "unity" as myth or fact.

WHEN IS ENOUGH ENOUGH? do you really want this type of situation in the white house?

  1. the libs work really hard to get up to the level of being laughable.

  2. Myth.

The reason there is no unity in the Democratic Party is that there are too many liberals in it.

Liberals hate walking in lock step.

The political spectrum is wide enough that liberals have a lot of area to roam around in.  Especially when the goose steppers are all lined up against the right wing wall of the spectrum.

That leaves the liberals room to explore a wide range of ideas and makes unifying them as difficult as herding cats.

If there were more than two political parties, then all parties would be more unified.

  3. Myth, that has always been the Dems downfall. No clear message.

  4. do not get too upset about what may or may not be.. in less than three months we will all know so in the mean time find something else to whine about

  5. You'll see the fallacy of your post this November, we'll show just how united we really are

by the way over 70% of former Clintonites are already on board as are the net roots

Hope you like change, we're going to be bringing you a lot of it

  6. The fact that so many are calling attention to the issue, on both sides, would suggest that it is indeed a problem to at least a small degree, if not a large one.

  7. a myth, fortunately the republicans have put forth the weakest candidate since gwb.

  8. Unity? ROTFLMFAO.

This Democratic primary has been the biggest political cluster fxck I have ever seen.  It was one outrage after another.  It started way back when with states moving their primary dates and being disenfranchised, and now re-enfranchised.  What will this mean next time?  This precedent is going to make it even worse.  Howard Dean has set them up for a real freak show next time.  They will all want to move. The debates, the mudslinging, the back room deals, the life time friends jumping ship, lieberman going over to the enemy, now Edwards s*x scandals, the made up combat stories from Hillary, the back biting, Kucinich in space ships, Gravel, just Gravel, move on ads, my god, my god I could go on for hours.  Unity?  You must be kidding.

  9. The nature of dems is unity & republicans is dualism. The convention is on already or something has already started so watch it if you have CNN I know it has started on there now. Just watch each day then judge.

  10. how many hillary supporters are going to disrespect her opinion?

Hillary called on all of her supporters to unite behind Senator Obama and ensure a victory for America in November by electing him to be President.
