  1. how do u figure bizarre? gender does not enter into it. if she has the know how good for him. GOOD CHOICE!!

  2. She has skeletons in her closet & he needed someone who needed a get out of jail free card. She will be loyal. Pawlenty was too clean to be around that gang....He thinks Hillary supporters want a women so he found a women as if be they like men to treat women like an object. He just doesn't get it.

  3. Nope other than he's trying to get Hillary voters which I think will turn around and bite him in the ***.

  4. No, but I bet his campaign advisors are going ballistic over it!

I'm guessing that the vetting process was very "hands on" and that McCain got a good feeling when he felt her out on her positions.  And i don't think he went easy on her either.  I'm guessing he really stuck it too her and concluded that even when he was hard on her, she performed up to his expectations, allowing him to come to his conclusion very quickly.

  5. I am a dem and am worried about this... On one hand, it appears to be a cynical ploy to distract from Obama's speech and try and sway those women upset about Hillary's runnerup status.  On the other hand, it may work.  Even women who support reproductive rights may be won over if they are still so angry at Obama.

  6. To have a lady around....  He marieed how many times?  To a model?

  7. I agree with stinks up there its to obviose . And like the **** that you are you block him from answering . What is you problem ?

  8. Actually, the pick makes perfect sense.  She is a solid conservative candidate.  She has a good political record.  She may not have been the governor for too long (2 years), but those were a busy 2 years.  She accomplished a lot in a very short amount of time.  That speaks volumes.  It means she is very politically aggressive and unintimidated as well as being extremely skilled.  She is outside of government and corporate circles and has pushed policies that reflect that.  She pushed agendas that she believed would better her state and the people in it, first and formost...whether that means pushing for oil drilling in the Alaskan reserves or fighting against big oil companies, which she has done both in her time there.  That I find very honest.  She commanded her National Guard and State Defence Forces well, handling several mobilizations as well as a complete transformation of the Army side to an organization that is more in-line with the Federal Army's organizational and strategic changes.  She has maintained a very high approval rating.

From a socially conservative standpoint, she is an upstanding citizen who lives conservative family values.  She has a very strong loyal family and very few skeletons in her closet.  Her son serves in the military...that serves a big blow to the anti-war crowd.  It's hard to push the position that the pro-war politicians are elitists who never have to feel the cost of war when both the presidential candidate and his running mate have sons serving in combat.  She stands very consistant on issues relating to abortion.  Even more so, again, she actually lives those values by having a child that she knew was going to be born disabled.  She had the same option to under-go an abortion as any other woman in the same situation and rejected that option because she didn't believe it was morally right.  She chose to have and love that child just as much as any of her others, regardless of the difficulties.  That is going to sit very well with the pro-life crowd.  She is pro-2nd Amendment.  She hunts...fishes...she lives a simple, small town life.  There are a lot of people who are going to be able to relate to that.  A lot of politicians, whether they are running for president or whatever, who try to play up that they understand and can relate to the rural "every-man", so to speak....well, she actually can.  This is a hockey mom that was born and raised rural America who went on to be a small town mayor before being elected to state governor.  She can walk to any town in the entire Mid-West of the United States and be able to speak their language.  That's huge.  Democrats like to show utter contempt for the small town country folk who feed them, but the reality is that if they campaign correctly she could potentially turn every state between the Appalacians and the Rockys to McCain.  Even us in Minnesota, who have not given a Republican electoral vote in a presidential election since Nixon, has a Republican governor..and could turn in the presidential election if we are galvanised by someone who we feel understands us.

As far as everyone else, McCain doesn't..or shouldn't...lose anything by picking her as the VP.  She is a very strong, intelligent, woman.  Those who would disagree with her on issues would still have disagreed if McCain had picked a man.  The whole feeling insulted thing about McCain picking her just because she's a woman is a stupid argument.  You were gonna vote for Hillary because she's a woman and now you aren't going to vote for Palin because she's a woman?  That makes no sense.  It's dumb.  He's demostrating that Republicans can look outside the box...that the Democrats don't hold a monopoly on being able to present a strong female figure that represents them.  That should not be seen as a bad thing.

That's all I got for right now...I guess, if that isn't a straight enough answer for ya, then I don't know what is.

  9. because when it comes to championing the minority or women causes the republican party is the party of action and not talk

  10. I believe its to even the playing field between Barrack and him and to also get the votes of Hilary Clinton supporters. Also because he wants to make history. Personally I think the reason why McCain chose her is because they know that since she is a woman they won't go hard on her. If the democratic party were to attack a woman in debate then they would lose alot of votes. McCain made a very risky move out of desperation that will either harm or help his campaign. The woman has no experience. She has 5 kids and one with down syndrome. What can she possibly do if McCain isn't able to perform his duties. I feel bad for people that vote for McCain just because his VP is a woman. Which one is more important history or the economy?

  11. No... and i dont excpect to hear one. He just lost the campaign and does not even know it. I have nothing against Gov. Palin, but that is because I just don't know her. Call me ignorant but I don't think we have enough time to make a compelling arguement as to what Palin can bring to the table in 66 days. There are too much issues on the table to take this one lightly.

  12. None yet.

They always peddle her supposed to be popular in Alaska... But if you select a VP just because she is popular in Alaska, that means your pool of qualified candidates have dried out.

PS: Not that I dont love it. In fact, I am gloating right now as to how McCain just blew up his own chance in November.

  13. No.  John McCain is senile.  And think about it, Palin is just one heartbeat away from being President, that is scary givin McCains age!

  14. He chose her to gain the Hillary supporters. No big mystery. But didn't he state two weeks ago that "woman are not dumb, just under-educated?"

And hasn't he voted 19 times against equal pay for women?  If they  win, will she draw the same salary as Cheney got for the last four years?  Something to ponder................

  15. obamaniacs caught totally unprepared and whining.

    GOOD JOB JOHN.

SEND THE KENYAN HOME TO KENYA.

  16. OMG...McCain IS a maverick...I thought that was all political BS before...

  17. God this is so great!  Why would you Liberals and Democrats be so upset about a Republican VP pick......why?  Oh, maybe because McCain and Palin will wipe the floor with your precious O'Biden!

    Myyyyyyyy precious......

  18. He doent have to its so obvious . The only thing that gets me is he really thinks americans are that ignorant . You know maybe they are .

  19. VP choice makes the oil lobbyists happy.  She support drilling.  He needs their support to win.  And, since they own the media companies.... it's a double bonus.

  20. Change is good, especially when you pick your vp as someone who's a complete sell out Washington good ole boy, right? If you talk about change, talk about a good, family-centered woman who has great character, plus experience of running a state, which in case you haven't realized, is a h**l of a lot closer to running a country than being a senator. So if you want change, its only logical to pick Bon Jov- I mean Obama and Good ole boy

  21. Scared much libs? Youre all talking about McCain and his VP  NOT Obama, his speech or the DNC. I hear boots shaking. lol GO McCain!!

  22. Simple, he needs Independents (me:) and disgruntle Clinton voters, and thinks this is the best way to do it.

  23. Alzheimer’s??

  24. Can Republicans now cry Mysogeney every time a dem attacks our VP nominee? I see your race card and raise you a sexist card! lol this could be fun!

  25. I think it is two fold. First the already stated, create a larger divide in the Democratic party, by grasping woman voters. And two, she is the governor of Alaska and McCain wants to drill in the Alaska Nation Wildlife Refuge. It would require state support, and McCain has already got it. It honestly is a rather brilliant choice, though it only proves that Republicans will stoop to any level to become president.

Go to Alaska while it is still beautiful and wildlife still lives there, well will be losing it to big oil.

  26. I'm still waiting for that straight answer. And all I get is more confusion than answers.

  27. FRESH BLOOD....a GOOD MOMMY example...C'mon...wise up!!!!

Is that a step to show people how "hip" the republicans are under their pointy white hats?

  28. Yes, I heard it from the horse's mouth this afternoon.

She said that she was chosen because of the makeup of her chromosomes. She is the product of a crass political calculation and Hail Mary attempt to save McCain. The ultraright and the oil interests own this woman and when McCain kaks they will have her in their pocket.

In one fell swoop, the republicans have negated two of their main party planks--that Obama is young and inexperienced. How can they complain about either now?

  29. Yes.  McCain needed a wow factor...and he knew picking a standard VP wasn't going to do it.  I think Palin is a mistake.

  30. oh, americans nagging again about politics.

pick the right politicians. people already suffer a lot. poor innocent children of this illegal war.

  31. Because of her conservative values.

    Fair enough.

But conservative "values" gave us Iraq, massive debt, foreclosures, a devalued dollar and the country in the gutter.
