over the internet. All the "carriers" are now immune from prosecution and are bound

to offer up the information on our private lives to the Federal Government.

first, your premise is faulted because this surveillance bill that was passed doesnt give out phone conversations, it gives out patters in phone numbers being called.  thats what was holding up the bill in the first place since the end of february, the democrats wanted to make sure that the lawyers could sue the telecoms for giving out patters of numbers when the president asked, not complete conversations.

if you want to do a bit of research, look up project echelon during the clinton years that recorded every phone call and every email ever sent during his tenure.
