Democrats...why is it so popular within your party to want to ban guns?

I just don't understand. Look at Great Britain and Australia. They banned gun ownership and crime has skyrocketed. Obviously the criminals aren't obeying the law. I COULD VOTE DEMOCRAT IF NOT FOR THIS.

TOTAL PER CAPITA GUN DEATHS  AUSTRALIA  = 3.05 .

     "           "          "            "           "          "   Britain        =   0.57            

     "             "        "             "          "               US               = 14.05

So a person is over 30 TIMES more likely to be killed by a gun in the US than in Britain and 45 times more likely to be killed by guns in the US than in Australia.

Additionally ,in the past  decades gun related deaths in AUSTRALIA HAVE DECLINED DRASTICALLY in Australia.

First I know of NO Democratic politician or Democrat voter who is calling for a BAN on guns ,only more controls.

Were does this myth come from?  Show me where Senator Obama, the DNC or for that matter anyone in the Democratic Party has proposed banning guns.  Yes, the some Democrats have proposed gun registration and gun owner licensing.  But this is done now for cars without anyone suggesting it means that the Democrats or anyone else is trying to ban cars.  So where is this idea coming from.

The murder rate in the UK- 2.03 people per 100,000

The murder rate in Australia- 1.28 people per 100,000

I don't want to ban all guns.  But why is there any need for a person to own assault weapons?  And saying "crime has skyrocketed" doesn't address the crime rate statistics involving firearms per capita.

It's not that Democrats are against the right to bear arms.  You are entitled to have a gun to protect yourself, your family and your belongings.  You are even entitled to own a gun to go hunting.  What Democrats are against are the fully automatic assault weapons.   These guns are made solely to kill other humans and there is no real reason why anyone needs weapons like that.

This is Hillary's stand:

Believes in right to bear arms but with controls, including background checks for people who purchase weapons at gun shows.

This is Obama's stand:  

Believes in "reasonable gun control measures," including background checks for people who buy firearms at gun shows.

Where does it ask for a ban on gun ownership?
