Latest Tottenham signing Clint Dempsey has expressed his delight on having completed a move to the North London club and looks forward to a step up in his career.
The American international finally secured a move away from Craven Cottage and former club Fulham and is now looking forward to playing at the highest level. Dempsey thanked Fulham and the fans for all their support and for giving him a chance to prove his
worth in the Premier League.
The player experienced a tense and controversial end to his Fulham career. There had been numerous reports that linked the player with a move away from the club, with Liverpool the most likely destination. It had been widely understood that the 29-year old
was tried forcing a move put in order to play at the highest level possible as he enters the last years of his playing career.
Dempsey had himself expressed his desire to play in the Champions League before he retired, and wanted to move away from Fulham to achieve this.
A move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 never materialized, and the American was snatched up by Tottenham on deadline day for a mere £6 million. The move came as a surprise to many as there had been no previous link between club and player.
The player expressed his delight and relief at having completed a move to Spurs, and is glad to have done so without unsettling his family.
Speaking to the English media, he said:
"I'm very relieved and looking forward to getting back to playing. I think the team is a perfect fit. They qualified for a place last season for the Champions League but missed out on a technicality."

"I always wanted to play at the highest level possible. That was never a secret. That's something I always said," he added.
"It would be a dream of mine to play Champions League and you want to play on the best team possible to try to get there. That's definitely a team with a lot of quality in it but now it's all about the team that I'm with."
