Tottenham Hotspur’s latest signing Clint Dempsey has revealed that he is disappointed by how his former club Fulham have portrayed him in the media.
The American midfielder was a last minute signing by the North London club in a deadline day frenzy. Tottenham signed French captain and goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 from Lyon and Clint Dempsey from Fulham on the transfer deadline day.
Tottenham had first attempted to sign Portuguese playmaker Joao Moutinho from Porto, and had even agreed a deal with the club. The deal however collapsed at the last minute due to paperwork issues, and Tottenham were unable to replace the departed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luka-Modric-c22857,
who signed for Real Madrid two weeks ago.
However, the arrival of Dempsey and Dembele from Fulham ensures that Tottenham have adequate firepower in midfield as they start life without the instrumental and effective Croatian midfielder.
Dempsey had long been linked with a move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, but ended up signing for Tottenham at the last minute. The player feels that he has been wrongly portrayed by Fulham and made to look bad in front of the fans and the media.
There had been reports that the 29-year old had gone on a strike in order to force a move away from Craven Cottage and did not feature for them in their opening two games of the season.
Dempsey has denied all such claims and said that he is disappointed at these rumours, saying that there was much more to his move than was suggested by reports in the media.
"I'm disappointed in the way I was portrayed, in the end, with Fulham," he said.
"I always wanted to play at the highest level possible. That was never a secret. That's something I always said. It would be a dream of mine to play Champions League and you want to play on the best team possible to try to get there.”
"That's definitely a team with a lot of quality in it, but now it's all about the team that I'm with."
The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 international went on to thank the Fulham fans for all their support and spoke about his future plans and ambitions.
"I want to thank the fans of Fulham. It's been five great years.”
