Tottenham Hotspur summer signing Clint Dempsey revealed his happiness at being part of the club and how well he is settling in at White Hart Lane.
The player secured a move to the North London outfit in a dramatic deadline day transfer, joining Tottenham from London rivals Fulham. The veteran forward had previously been linked with a move to Anfield, with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 reportedly very keen on acquiring
his services.
However, the media, fans and football analysts were given a surprise when Tottenham announced that they had signed the American international. No one had anticipated this move as there had not been any probable link between the club and player.
Having spent years with Fulham, Dempsey is no stranger to the Premier League and looks to be a vital addition to the Spurs squad as he joins the likes of former Fulham teammate Moussa Dembele and other summer signings Gylfi Sigurdsson, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 and Emmanuel
Adebayor.
Dempsey scored his first goal for the club in the memorable 2-3 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford, and is looking to add to his tally.
The player is hoping to make a huge impact and become a first team regular. He believes there is more to come from him in the coming months. Speaking with reporters, he said:
“I feel like I’m settling in. I have been trying to hit the ground running.”
“I’ve played in seven games, got six starts and have a goal and an assist in the league. I would like to have better numbers but at the same time I am playing consistently at a good level and it is about getting more goals, more assists as that makes me
contribute more.”
Tottenham will take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 this weekend once the Premier League resumes following this and last week’s international break. The Blues will travel to White Hart Lane on Saturday afternoon, and manager Andre Villas-Boas will be keen to upset his former
employers.
Dempsey knows his team are in for a fight as they host the league leaders, but is confident that Spurs can continue their fine run in the league and maintain their momentum.
