Deneen Demourkas’ Groovederci retains Farr 30 World Championship title
Californian team of Groovederci skippered by Deneen Demourkas did not need to push themselves hard to retain their Farr 30 World Championship title. They performed according to the standards on the final day proceedings of the 2012 BMW Farr 30 World Championship
and were able to claim the title compiling 43 points.
The Californian sailors were in a handsome lead from the beginning of the regatta and they continued their dominance over the fleet on the last day. The clinched a bullet in the first race of the day which relieved them off from participating in the second
because they had already won the title.
This is the second consecutive title victory for the Groovederci team under the leadership of Demourkas who encouraged her team from the start and proved her class once again among the top teams from around the world. She was quite happy after putting up
an excellent sailing show in the event and claiming the title.
Tactician Groovederci Cameron Appleton spoke to the media and said, “Reading the wind wasn’t easy out there, but we stuck to our plan, the team executed brilliantly, and Deneen took care of the rest.”
The weather conditions over the racing area on Laholm Bay were outstanding for a perfect sailing proceeding and the fleet had complete racing schedule for the day.
On the second podium place, finished Farr Barr 2 skippered by Martin Strandberg with 46 points while Barking Mad’s James Richardson, who was on second place early in the regatta, finished on third spot with 57 points.
