The reigning World Champions had a slow start of the day with a seventh finish in the first race of the day but did not lose heart and improved in the next as she finished on fourth.
Third race was crucial because the breeze was quite strong and had heavy shifts but the fleet managed well. Demourkas performed according to the standards in the third race and hit the first finish to retain the top spot with 18 points.
Another US sailor, James Richardson was on second place at the end of Day 1 but he tumbled down in the standings and is now placed on third podium while Martin Strandberg improved his skills and grabbed the second place with 22 points.
