Deneen Demourkas still on top of 2012 Farr 30 World Championship standings
Santa Barbara Yacht Club’s Groovederci skippered by Deneen Demourkas, displayed some classic sailing skills from the start of the 2012 Farr 30 World Championship and grabbed the leading podium place from the first day proceedings. Demourkas clinched a bullet
on the first day racing along with a second and third finish to hit the top spot in the standings.
However, continuing the impressive sailing genius, the Groovederci managed to stay on the top with noticeable finishes in the next couple of days. Their only lower finish was a seventh in the fourth race overall which did not affect their result and at the
end of Day 4 proceedings, Groovederci was still on top podium place with 22 points.
The fourth day was another terrific session for the Groovederci crew as they had a superb start with a second finish in the opening race. In the next two beats, the crew breezed into first podium finish to occupy the fleet standings.
The Groovederci crew led by Deneen Demourkas will be in the spotlight as champions should the team continue their struggle and the same result on the fifth and final day of the event.
Martin Strandberg’s Farr Bar 2 is on the second podium place with 35 points after participating in nine races including no discarded race. They grabbed only two bullets in their regatta campaign but still they are hopeful for a positive finish in the event.
