Deng Xuan demolishes Di Suo in Women’s Singles quarter-final of New Zealand Badminton Open
Deng Xuan, a talented and aggressive player from China, stretched her winning streak and outplayed her lower ranked compatriot Di Suo in Women’s Singles quarter-final of SKYCITY New Zealand Badminton Open 2013 on Friday, April 12, in New Zealand.
The higher ranked Deng, who is the third seeded player in the main draw of the tournament, was in wonderful confidence as she played with impressive precision and outplayed her country-mate in just 36 minutes.
Deng started her campaign in a slow but steady manner and remained in complete control of rallies all the way. She did not let her challenger to put up a strong show in the ending points and eventually won the battle with a decent total of 21-15 and 21-17.
The un-seeded Suo, on the contrary, failed to play aggressive badminton as she could not find gaps in her rival’s court. She tried to play attacking badminton but failed to shake the confidence of her higher ranked compatriot and lost the match with a respectable
margin.
The impressive speed and powerful strokes of Deng helped her to take control of the pace right from the starting points of the first set.
Deng showed that she has attained top quality skills on court and ultimately successful in taking a strong domination on court.
It was the third seeded Deng who did not show any respect to her aggressive opponent in the first half and clinched a spectacular lead in the game.
After the one-minute interval, Deng stayed focused in the arena and remained successful in keeping a sound difference.
It was a smooth sailing for the in-form Deng who did not face any considerable opposition from her opponent and won the opening game with a convincing 21-15 margin on the board.
Suo was once again in trouble in the second game as she faced a punishing treatment from her challenger who was at her best in the arena.
The cracking smashes and spinning net shots kept Deng ahead of her challenger all the way until the end of first part in second set.
Suo failed to put up strong show in the second set of this fight as her opponent Deng played flawless badminton and grabbed the set with a reasonable 21-17 margin on the board.
