Deng Xuan tames Chloe Magee in Women’s Singles qualifying round – China Open Update
Women’s Singles expert Deng Xuan relished full benefits of their home ground to clear the first stage of the qualifying round in Li Ning China Open on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.
The budding Chinese shuttler outshined Chloe Magee with an impressive result of 21-18 and 21-13.
However, it was not an easy win as she had to wait for 30 minutes to raise hands as victor in the local badminton complex of Shanghai.
Now she is just one step away from the main round of this tournament and she is scheduled to meet the compatriot shuttler Xue Yao in the final stage of qualifying round.
Deng Xuan will employ the vital experience of the opening round where she sealed a splendid straight-set victory.
Initially, she played with a cautious approach and this strategy resulted in a tight margin before the mid-game break but then few productive rallies helped her to make a notable difference.
On the other hand, Chloe Magee matched her rival’s skills in first half of the set and placed a respectable figure of 11-9 but she frittered away her effort in the second half.
The Chinese campaigner did not squander this counter-attack opportunity and levelled the score with 14-14 in third quarter of the set. She kept on gathering valuable points at steady pace and piled up a mountainous margin of 19-14.
At this stage, the Irish shuttler made every effort to come out of this deficit but she had to give up this futile chase after reading 18-21 total.
The second set was completely dominated by Deng Xuan as she ruled the court from very stroke and maintained that upper hand all the way to game point situation.
She made her intentions clear by putting 7-2 score in no time and then magnified the impact with 11-2 margin.
This nine-point difference proved too much for Chloe Magee as she failed to lift this burden and knelt down tamely.
Deng Xuan played with great control and precision while registering the decisive figure of 21-13 and qualified for the final stage of qualifying round.
Now she is just one win away from the main draw and critics are giving her better odds for this honour.
