Lokomotiv Moscow attacking midfielder, Dennis Glushakov, has denied the reports linking him with a move to Zenit St. Petersburg during the summer transfer window, assuring the fans that he is not considering leaving the Moscow-based
club at the moment.
The 25-year-old prolific midfielder, who has long been linked with a move to the St. Petersburg club, has now changed his mind to switch his current club after he was given the captain’s armband by Lokomotiv’s new head coach, Slaven
Bilic.
Glushakov will now be leading the Moscow-based club for the upcoming crunch opening Russian Premier League tie against FC Krylia Sovetov Samara at Stadion Lokomotiv on Saturday.
The former Nika Moscow player, who scored 11 goals in 37 league appearances last term, admitted that he is delighted to become the captain and promised the fans that he will try to justify the role.
“None of the representatives from other clubs have come out for a possible transfer, so I do not want to discuss it. I have a valid contract at Lokomotiv and I am happy with everything here.”
“I am glad to be the captain of this team. This is a big responsibility - to be captain of the team.” The Russian national was quoted as saying.
The fact that Lokomotiv have failed to book their place in the UEFA Europa League after finishing 2nd in the Russian championship last term displeases Glushakov, who believes that his side is capable of achieving much
more this season.
Glushakov went on to express his desire to win European qualification, urging his team-mates to push the pedal to the metal. He revealed that the fans can expect a flying start to the new season after they hired a fantastic coach
in Bilic.
Speaking on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-c13152 Capello’s appointment as Russian national team’s head coach, Glushakov has hailed the move, insisting that the Russian Football Union has taken a wise step after selecting the Italian coach for the vacant managerial
position.
