Denmark International 2012: Sandra Maria Jensen tames Anna Thea Madsen to claim her first title
Denmark’s young and talented shuttler Sandra Maria Jensen showed her convincing skills to claim her first ever international title on home ground as she won the Women’s Singles crown after beating her team-mate Anna Thea Madsen in the final battle of Forza
Denmark International 2012 on Saturday, May 5, in Denmark.
Sandra, who started her campaign in Denmark International as an un-seeded shuttler, was impressive in the entire competition and made her presence felt to the world by winning the final contest in a wonderful fashion.
The in-form Sandra was at her best when she played against Anna and ended the final contest in straight games while working for just 28 minutes.
On the other hand, Anna failed to continue her winning run in the tournament as she could not dominate the game against Sandra who was in her prime form.
In the first set of this Women’s Singles title match, Sandra was in full control of rallies as she dictated the pace in all areas and remained successful in setting up a wonderful gap at early stage.
In the meanwhile, Anna tried to cope up with the speed of her team-mate but failed to play positive game and remained behind at 7-11 until the break.
After the interval, Anna played better game as she found gaps in her rival’s court and perfectly placed her shots in those gaps. She managed to level the score in the concluding phase by reaching at 14-14.
Both ladies continued playing well at this stage and reached at19-19 when Sandra showed her impressive class and took the game with a tight margin of 21-19.
In the second set, Sandra was everywhere in the court as she took over the affairs from her opponent in opening points and build an impressive lead of 11-5 until the mid-game interval.
After the break, Anna tried to play fast badminton and also narrowed the gap but it was too late as her rival ended the set with a 21-18 margin on the score board.
Sandra emerged as title winner as she overpowered Anna in straight games of 28 minutes with a decent score of 21-19 and 21-18.
