European Under-19 Championship’s first Group B match of the day was scheduled to be played between Denmark U-19 and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/France-c2899 U-19, on July 29, 2011, at the King William’s College no 2 Ground, Castle Town (neutral venue).
The Danish captain, Christian Peck–Thorsted, won the toss and elected to field first. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Collins-c51521 came out to commence the batting innings for the French team. The team did not have a good start as it lost a few early wickets,
which put the team in trouble.
Murphy was bowled out by Saif Yaqoob of Denmark at a score of 13 runs off 29 deliveries. The first wicket fell when France had scored only 20 runs.
William Smati came in to replace the dismissed opener and he, alongside Henry, added 13 runs in the 2nd wicket partnership. Wicket-keeping batsman Collins could not handle a beautiful delivery by Saif Yaqoob which edged straight to the Danish
wicket-keeper, Sasitharan, and Collins got caught out at a score of 4 runs.
Hamza Niaz was the next French batsman out on the crease to face the Danish bowling attack. He held his wicket for some time but wickets kept tumbling at the other end. Once again the Danish wicket-keeper took a beautiful catch on Amjad’s delivery, marking
the end of Smati’s innings. He scored 10 runs off 28 deliveries, at a strike rate of 38.46 deliveries.
Smati was replaced by Zika Ali who looked promising and hit the second six of the innings. He scored 9 runs off 9 deliveries but was dismissed by Amjad soon. His demise left the French team at a total of 49 runs.
Daniel Nott was the next batsman but was unfortunate to get run-out at a direct throw by Raja Basit Javed. Nott managed to contribute only 6 runs off 13 deliveries to the team’s score card.
Thomas Liddiard, the French captain, was the next man to come out on the crease and support the crumbling French team. Before the skipper could open his batting account, his partner, Hamza Niaz, got lbw off a fine delivery by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamid-Ali-Mazhar-Shah-c61330.
Usman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shahid-c89347 was the next batsman to stand along the captain but then Basit Amjad of Denmark struck again and bowled Liddiard out. The skipper left at duck, leaving his team at 61/7.
Shahid followed the footsteps of his skipper and left on a duck as he was caught out by Shah at his own delivery.
Gribbell and Liyanaarachichi were the last two men to be dismissed at a score of 74. The French innings ended at a total of 74 runs in just 33.1 overs.
