Denmark v Singapore – ICC World Cricket League Division Four 2012 (3rd place play-off) – Match Recap
An all-round effort from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cricket League Division Four 2012, after winning the 3rd place play-off against Denmark by a margin of 5 wickets,
on September 10 at the Selangor Turf Club in Kuala Lumpur.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mulewa-Dharmichand-c77953 (3-0-19-2), and Abhiraj Singh (3-1-5-2), managed to bowl out Denmark for a paltry total of 83.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Carsten-Refstrup-Pedersen-c49308 (6) and Shehzad Ahmed (10) opened the innings for their side, but their partnership did not proceed beyond 10 runs, with Pedersen dismissed by Suryawanshi in the 3rd over. He was followed to the crease by Andreas Lambert (10),
but Shehzad Ahmed was only able to join him for a 12-run stand after which the 8th over saw both Shehzad Ahmed and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taha-Ahmed-c92583 (0) dismissed by Amjad Mahboob.
Lambert followed suit in the very next over, sent packing by Suryawanshi, and by this point in the game, Denmark were at 30 for 4. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ajay-Bobby-Chawla-c42426 (14)
was the only batsman who managed a double-digit score.
Suryawanshi took skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hamid-Ali-Mazhar-Shah-c61330 (0) in the 20th over. Anish Param claimed Rizwan Mahmood as his only wicket of the day, and after Dharmichand had
swept both Chawla and Bashir Shah (3) off the crease, Denmark finished all out at a mere 83 by the end of 26 overs – the team’s lowest total in the tournament.
Singapore, meanwhile, hardly faced any hurdles during their chase, and Denmark barely put up any obstacles, with Bashir Shah (8-2-11-5) remaining the only bowler who managed to pick up any wickets.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kshitij-Baliram-Shinde-c71818 picked up the chase, contributing an unbeaten
22, in addition to teaming up with opener Suryawanshi (45) for a 43-run 3rd-wicket stand.
By the time http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chaminda-Ruwan-Kumarage-c49559 (3), got the team up to 87 by the 17th over, with 5
wickets down and 202 deliveries still remaining.
The victory saw Singapore finishing 3rd in the competition, while Denmark finished fourth. Despite the victory, however, Singapore skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Malaysia-c2949
with the intent to win.
“We came to Malaysia to win this tournament. The third place finish is very disappointing,” he said. “We trained hard, prepared well but a bit of bad luck with the weather and the fact that our batting didn't click meant we underperformed.”
