Denmark youth win European Under-19 Championship Division Two final - Cricket News Update
Following in the footsteps of their national Twenty20 side, which recently earned the title at the European Championship Division One Twenty20 Series, the Danish youth once again trailed into making their nation proud, after defeating Isle of Man in the
European Under-19 (U19) Championship Division Two tournament final.
Denmark U19 marked a 60-run win over the opponents in the deciding One Day International (ODI) fixture, being staged at the King William’s College on Tuesday, August 2, 2011.
Opting to bat first, Denmark kicked off the final bout with its opening batsmen earning swift runs, following some early losses on the top batting order. Midway through the game, the team suffered a successive loss of wickets, resulting in a down sliding
run-rate, leaving the team into aggregating a disappointing total of 140 runs in 39 overs. With the close of Denmark’s opening innings, the team lost all its players.
As for Isle of Man’s batting response, the team saw an opening blow to its order after losing three quick wickets at a minor total of just 2 runs. With the top order eliminated during the opening minutes of the session, the middle order was forced into take
on the chase; however, failing to retain their stumps, the order eventually crumbled down till its final player in the 35th over. Isle of Man was defeated after scoring 80 runs, falling 60 runs short off the chase.

Despite some notable team work, the consistent wins also come as complements to its individual star performers, including its top batsman, Kamran Mahmood, with an impressive total of 198 runs from 5 matches, followed by the team’s highlight bowler, Aqeel
Amjad, earning a total of 11 wickets from 5 games.
