Denmark’s Henriette Koch and Lene Sommer qualify for 2012 Olympic Games – Sailing News
Despite hitting the 10th podium place in the overall standings of the 2012 470 World Championships, Denmark’s Henriette Koch and Lene Sommer were able to qualify for the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games.
At the conclusion of Day 3 at Barcelona, the Danish pair earned 30 points after participating in six races, including a discard race.
The duo began their regatta run with a lower finish at 14th podium place in the first race of the event but they bounced back in the next race and hit the fifth position.
On the second day of the regatta, the pair clinched two ninth places and moved up a bit. The pair was expecting some impressive run in the championship and their main goal was to earn a place in the 2012 Olympic Games.
However, the third day of the event brought the good news for them as they were able to qualify for the 2012 London Olympics.
During their regatta campaign on the third day, they collected a fifth and a second position to hit the 10th place with 30 points. The pair will now be aiming to make a superb run in the Olympics.
Speaking to the local media Sommer said that they are feeling really good as it has been a tough day, but they remain focused on one race at a time.
