Denmark’s Malene Jorgensen grabs an early lead at the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters
First round of the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters at the Albatross Golf Resort, Prague, is underway and Malene Jorgensen has now clinched an early lead with a blistering six-under so far. The golfer is yet to finish the remaining six holes. The Danish
star golfer switched over to trailblazing golf with three birdies on the front nine and made the turn to card two more birdies on the back nine.
Local heartthrob, Klara Spilkova started off her day with splendid putting and reeled in three consecutive birdies on the starting holes of the back nine. She carded another birdie on the first hole of the front nine and is yet to tee-off for the remaining
five holes.
Spilkova has experience of playing on this course whereby, rest of the field has not played the course before. Ladies European Tour is visiting Czech Republic for the first time since its inception. Spilkova is now tied for a joint second along with Julie
Greciet with four-under so far.
Frenchwoman, Greciet is almost through with her first round and is currently playing for her remaining three holes on the back nine. She carded six birdies and has dropped two shots in her round and will be hoping to avoid any more bogeys in order to stay
in contention.
Englishwoman, Kiran Matharu and Felicity Johnson are tied for a joint third with their respective scores of three-under through the nine holes.
England’s Laura Davies, Sweden’s Linda Wessberg and Spilkova of Czech Republic are paired together in the Marquee group and Davies had so far failed to impress the strong crowd which showed up to witness the inaugural event at the Albatross Golf Resort.
England’s Florentyna Parker, Germany’s Anja Monke and Czech professional, Daniela Prorokova are paired together and started their rounds ten minutes later.
This is the first time LET is visiting Czech Republic with its latest Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters
having a purse of €200,000. Also part of the field is debutant, Hertfordshire’s Lucy Williams, who is playing on invitational status. She won the 2011 English Women’s Amateur Championship and plans to turn professional in a matter of weeks.
